NOV 09 NEWSLETTER

Hi All,What’s been Happening !
It was lovely to have Val from Tai Chi at our last meeting. Qigong is an integral component of Chinese health system that combines physical movement, mental cultivation and regulated breathing. This activity is designed to guide and induce the free flow of energy Qi throughout the body, maintaining the harmony of Yin and Yang, which promotes health and a greater sense of well being.
Saturday saw us at the Breacan Forum in Frankston. It was a great day over 30 women with breast or gynaecological cancer at all stages of their journeys. Maria a psychologist facilitated an interactive session which was great. Breacan services were discussed- perhaps we all need to travel up in a group one day to have a look around (and shop and lunch!). They run great forums in Melbourne frequently. Local services were also discussed. Our mate Judy Sammut was there, she will come in March to talk about exercise and the Encore Frankston session in Term 2, 2010.The food was good, our friends from Beleura and the Peninsula Dragonflys were there too! Kate had Wig Library info, she is always on the lookout for volunteers to help. Call the PPH Chemo ward for further info. The afternoon sessions included Art Therapy, Dance and also Val did Tai Chi again.
Many of us attended Judith Burkes funeral this month. It was a lovely service and the wonderful Dragonflys gave her a guard of honour that she would have loved. Our thoughts are with Bernie , Mary and all her family.
Under the Breast Intentions banner there have been suggestions of a younger group and an ABC (advanced cancer group). These could be day or night time ( both suggested) in the hospital or at a coffee shop, or even a Google group which allows internet conversations that only people invited to the group can access. Let us know what you think. There would still be the one newsletter and all are invited to the Wed meeting especially if there are guest speakers. People have also offered to help with the group which I think is fantastic. 2010 I would love a couple of people to join me at the Cancer Council for a day to attend a facilitators course. Let me know if you are interested.
Elspeth will do a library list which we can post on the Blog site to remind you of the book and, CDs that are available for loan.
